5: DONETSK NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
Donetsk National Medical University of Ukraine (DNMUU) is the best and the largest medical university in Eastern Europe. Donetsk National Medical University of Ukraine (DNMUU) was established in 1930 as M. Gorky Donetsk Medical Institute. After the second world war, Institute was renames to Stalino Medical Institute. In 1967 the institute was again renames to M.Gorky Donetsk State medical Institute.
In 1994 DNMUU was given the status of University and in 2008 DNMUU has got the status of National Medical University and it was renamed to M.Gorky Donetsk National Medical University of Ukraine. 7: SOUTH ODESSA PEDAGOGICAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky was established as Pedagogical Institute at Richelieu Lyceum in Odessa on 2 May, 1817. Since that time, its name has been changed several times; it has been liquidated and reestablished. Before 1941, the University was one of the biggest in Odessa in terms of the amount of students and the leading one in the USSR in terms of quality of teachers training.

9: VN KARAZIN KHARKIV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is one of the oldest university in Eastern Europe. It was founded in November 1804, on the initiative of the prominent educator V.N. 10: VINNYTSIA NATIONAL PIROGOV MEMORIAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
Vinnitsa Medical Institute n.a. N.I. Pirogov and since 1994 the University has been training competent doctors for 90 years. For this period about 44 thousands of specialists have been trained, who work in Ukraine and in many countries of the world. Now training of specialists is carried out at 53 chairs, where the competent scientific-pedagogical staff works.
Among them there are an academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, 5 academicians and 5 members-correspondents of Academies of Science, 120 doctors of science, professors, 554 candidates of science, associated professors.
The Medical University has traditions in educational, research activity, organization of the students’ leisure, maintaining of heartily relations with the graduates. Material-technical basis: 3 educational buildings, modern equipment, research centre and centre of new information technologies, more than 780 modern computers, which are connected up to Internet, large library (500 thousand books), own printing house.
The Muslim Center and the Mosque function near the University. At the medical university 6250 students are trained, including 1500 foreigners. In total about 44000 doctors, among them 2100 specialists of the highest level, possessing the Candidate’s and Ph.D., M.D. degrees, including more than 7500 foreign citizens from 106 foreign countries of Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America, Africa) have been trained. Annually the University chairs issue 10-12 text-books of methodic and other educational-methodical materials for the foreign students.

11: ZAPORIZHZHIA STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
The history of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University comes back to the Women Pedagogic Courses organized in Odessa in 1903. In 1921 the Courses were reorganized into the Chemical-Pharmaceutical Institute. In 1935 it was reformed in the State Pharmaceutical Institute. In 1941 the life of the Institute was interrupted by the Great Patriotic war till 1944.
In 1959 the Pharmaceutical Institute was transferred from Odessa to Zaporizhzhia and renamed in Zaporizhzhia Pharmaceutical Institute. In 1964 the Medical Faculty was opened and in 1968 Zaporizhzhia Pharmaceutical Institute was renamed into Zaporizhzhia Medical Institute. In 1975 Zaporizhzhia Medical Institute got a status of the Institute of the first category.
In 1994 the Institute was reorganized into Zaporizhzhia State Medical University of the IV (the top) level of accreditation. Now it is of one of the leading Medical Universities in the system of medical education of Ukraine. It has become a training center for medical and pharmaceutical specialists for Ukraine and for foreign countries

13: POLTAVA STATE MEDICAL AND DENTAL UNIVERSITY
Medicine studies at Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy are conducted exactly according to the international standard of medicine study. The undergraduate program takes six years; during these six years students learn all knowledge, essential to develop skills, to become international standard doctor and practiconer. Medicine study in UMSA is modernized with highly professional teaching staff and advanced curriculum.
Along with this, we have well-equipped laboratories that make the difference for our system as a whole. We have our own hospitals for student training to train the young students under the supervision of experienced professors and surgeons. Practical training starts from the 3rd year and is arranged at government hospitals and clinics in Poltava.
Students examine patients, give urgent aid, and fill case histories with their subsequent analysis, practice at X-ray rooms, clinical and biochemical laboratories. For many years the Academy has been training doctors for different countries of Europe, Asia, and Africa. The medium of instruction in the Medical faculty is English Russian and Ukrainian language.
The Ministry of education and the Ministry of Public health, Ukraine approved the curriculum of the medical faculty. Many countries accept the degree of UMSA including American European Asian and African countries. UMSA is highly ranked in international rankings of medical universities. It is also in top rankings in European medical universities rankings.
Medicine graduates of UMSA are recognized in the whole world. The Medical Faculty actively promotes research and teaching in the area of human medicine and has an important contribution to scientific knowledge transfer and its progress. 14: UZHHOROD NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, FACULTY OF MEDICINE
Uzhhorod National University was founded on October 18, 1945 in accordance with the joint resolution of Council of People’s Commissars of Ukrainian SSR and Central Committee of Communist Party of Ukrainian SSR.
The resolution stated the following: “due to considerable demand of cultural upbringing in Transcarpathian Ukraine and the solicitude of the Council of Transcarpathian Ukraine, Council of National Commissars of Ukrainian SSR and Central Committee of Ukrainian Communist Party decree: “to open in 1945 State University in Uzhhorod with the following faculties: history, philology, biology, medicine and Preparatory courses were opened first. On February 1, 1946 the first 168 students from towns and villages of Ukraine began their studies.
The first faculties to open were historical, philological, biological and medical. On July 1, 1946 there were 15 departments with 42 members in the teaching staff. In 1946 the Council of Ministers of USSR proclaimed that Uzhhorod State University belonged to the first category of higher education institutions and since then it has been administrated by the Ministry of Higher Education of the Soviet Union.
Uzhhorod State University attained help from 50 biggest universities and academic institutions of Ukraine. Scientific, technical, political and science-fiction literature and text books were sent to Uzhhorod from universities in Baku, Kazan, Tbilisi as well as other towns and cities of the former Soviet Union. On October 19, 2000, Uzhhorod State University was renamed Uzhhorod National University.

15: TARAS SHEVCHENKO NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

Only a university with a long tradition of achievement and success both in teaching and in research could cope with such a mission.
On 21 April 1994, Kyiv University was granted the status of “National” by Leonid Kravchuk, the President of Ukraine by Decree № 176/94, and on 25 November 1999 a further Decree, № 1496/99, of Leonid Kuchma, President of Ukraine at that time, significantly expanded the autonomous status of the university.
Decree № 412/2008, of Viktor Yushchenko, then President of Ukraine, on 5 May 2008, further stipulated the conversion of the University to becoming the main principal educational and scientific centre of Ukraine for the education of academic and teaching staff with higher qualifications.
Then on 29 July 2009 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with Regulation № 795 granted the University the status of being a self-governing and autonomous national research university, while providing increased funding for the future development of the university.

16: TERNOPIL NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
TNMU was founded on 12 April 1957 as a Ternopil Medical Institute. On July 1, 1992, the institute was named after Ivan Horbachevsky. On December 30, 1997, it received the status of State Medical Academy, and on 17 November 2004, after reorganization, the institution became Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University. The first rector of the medical institute was Petro Ohii, and the vice-rector Arsen Martyniuk.
The regional administration transferred ownership of two buildings to the institute for the use as academic and laboratory facilities, and two dormitories. University clinic facilities were located in the municipal hospital. At the same time, the Morphology Building, a dormitory, and the Regional Hospital were being built.
The institute had 19 departments, and employed 66 instructors, among them Kostiantyn Kovanov, Rostyslav-Yurii Komarovskyi, Anatolii Lokai, Ivan Sytnyk, Mykola Skakun, and Yevhen Honcharuk. The first class consisted of 210 students. The institute steadily developed programs and facilities, but the biggest change took place after Ukraine has gained its independence in 1991, when the school started moving towards the European system of education.
In 1994, the Institute received IV level of institutional accreditation. In 1995 TSMU added the specialty of Nursing, and in 2000 Pharmacy. As of 2016, the university offers Bachelor’s level programs in Physical rehabilitation and Nursing; Master’s level programs in Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Nursing; and Ph.D. level programs in specialties Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Biology.
According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 146/2019 from the 17-th of April, 2019, I.Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University received the status of a national university. The document states that “taking into account national and international recognition of the results of the activity of the State Higher Educational Institution ” I.Ya.Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University of the Ukrainian Ministry of Public Health”.
Its significant contribution to the development of national medical and pharmaceutical education and science, I resolve to give the State Higher Educational Institution “I.Ya.Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University of the Ukrainian Ministry of Public Health” the status of national and to continue naming it – ” I.Ya.Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University of the Ukrainian Ministry of Public Health”.

17: ODESSA NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
1946 the first foreign student – citizen of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jang So has been admitted to Odessa Medical Institute (previous name of ONMedU).
This period of training on contract basis is interested by all foreigners, including citizens of the CIS. At the first stage of training was carried out on the basis of intergovernmental agreements, on the second – on the basis of intergovernmental, inter-party coordination and communication between NGOs and trade unions, the third stage is associated with the collapse of the USSR and the CIS inability to perform the former arrangement.
At the initial stage, a small number of students from European countries changed hardly the organizational structure of the educational process. Foreign students entered into existing groups and studied together with Soviet students.
The emergence of students from Asia, Africa and Latin America resulted in significant changes in the education of foreign students, so in 1964 has been created the dean dedicated to work with foreign students and later the Department of Russian Language (1969). In 1992 the preparatory department for foreign citizens, where students are trained in Russian and Ukrainian language, improve basic training in physics, chemistry and biology have been created.
Foreign students acquire knowledge and skills of the newest medical technologies: endoscopic, laparoscopic, maxillofacial, plastic surgery, transplantation, tissue therapy, implant dentistry and others.
